2D MOTION
2023-24

Modu Publishing is a start-up publishing company that believes in the power of diverse narratives to transform minds and empower communities. Driven by the founder's experiences working with young students confined to narrow, eurocentric narratives, Modu commits themselves to breaking down barriers and amplifying voices that have long been overlooked. Their mission is to rewrite the narrative and create a space where everyone sees themselves reflected in the stories they read.

For this project, I collaborated closely with the founder, Michelle Kwon, to bring her brand vision to life. Kwon wanted a brand that was minimal and contemporary, with subtle playful elements woven throughout. She also aimed to subtly incorporate aspects of Korean culture, reflecting her deep connection to her Korean identity. My role was to help create a a comprehensive branding for Modu Publishing and develop engaging social media content that authentically reflected the mission of the brand.
LOGOMARK DESIGN
BRANDING

With the existing full logo, my role was to create the logomark/icon. Drawing inspiration from traditional Korean *dojang* (stamps or seals), I aimed to incorporate cultural significance into the design. These stamps, often used as signatures or symbols of authenticity, reflect both heritage and craftsmanship, making them a fitting representation of the brand's values. By blending this cultural reference with modern design elements, I designed an icon that not only feels rooted in tradition but also resonates with the brand’s contemporary audience.
